Earth Day Reflections from Avlaki
Ilona Coryndon BurnsAt Avlaki, Earth Day is more than a date—it’s the heartbeat of everything we do.
We (Natalie and Deborah) didn’t set out to become olive oil producers in the traditional sense. What drew us in was the land itself: wild groves on Lesvos, ancient trees full of character and resilience, and a way of farming that felt right—not rushed or extractive, but connected, seasonal, and full of life.
From the very beginning, we chose to work with nature, not against it.
- 🌿 We don’t use chemicals or pesticides—not just for the sake of purity, but because we believe in letting the natural ecosystem thrive.
- 🌿 Our groves are havens for bees, birds, wild herbs, and all the tiny life forms that make a landscape sing.
- 🌿 We harvest by hand, listen to the rhythms of the land, and bottle our oils as they come—fresh, unfiltered, and full of character.
We’ve always believed that true sustainability means thinking long-term. It’s about leaving the soil better than we found it. It's about honouring the olive trees that have stood for centuries. And it’s about offering something nourishing to you, the person on the other end of that bottle.
So this Earth Day, we invite you to share in our commitment—to real food, honest farming, and a planet worth protecting.
With warmth,
Natalie & Deborah
